Jones decided to release a mainstream project when she felt internally disturbed by the George Floyd death and mishandling of her people. “ I didn’t realize how much the situation disturbed me because I never dealt emotionally with the discrimination and racism I experienced my whole life. I became really depressed and all of the songs on my album poured out of me.”
